TECHNOLOGY IS TRENDY
TECHNOLOGY IS TRENDY
Fashion Brands are integrating more and more technology in their Shows (Coperni...) or their communication campaign (Jacquemus...), but also in their fabrics. Note that the credit goes to Iris van Herpen, who is the forerunner in terms of combining Couture and technology.
From swimwear to activewear, the latest trend in fashion is all about incorporating technology into everyday wear. So, why are technical fabrics and other innovative techniques so popular?
When Fashion Meets Functionality
Fashion and technology are merging more than ever, as brands integrate innovative techniques and fabrics into their collections. Not only are designers creating unique, sculptural silhouettes that would be impossible with traditional fabrics, but they are also incorporating moisture-wicking, quick-drying, and even antibacterial properties into their designs, making them ideal for outdoor activities and hot weather. Brands such as Lululemon and Arct'erix are leading the charge, showcasing their collections that blend fashion and functionality seamlessly.
Lululemon's "Everlux" fabric is a new addition to their collection, designed for high-intensity workouts. The fabric is quick-drying and sweat-wicking, but also has a unique cooling effect that draws heat away from the body.
Meanwhile, Arc'teryx's latest collection features "GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ with WINDSTOPPER®" technology, which provides windproof protection while still allowing breathability. This fabric is featured in their "Gamma MX Hoody," which has been designed to provide maximum protection and versatility for outdoor adventurers.
GIVE AN HIGH TECH VIBE
High-tech fabrics are also making waves in swimwear, with Fendi and Burberry featuring water-reactive fabrics that create a graphic print when wet.

Meanwhile, 3D printing is taking the footwear industry by storm, with Reebok collaborating with Botter on their Venus Comb Murex Shell Sneaker, made possible with HP's Multi Jet Fusion technology. A long story!
Push the boundaries of fashion for Sustainability
However, this trend isn't just about creating fashionable clothing; it's about promoting sustainability too. PangaiaFashion is one of the world's most polluting industries, with a significant impact on the environment. The production of clothing involves vast amounts of water, energy, and raw materials, while also generating huge amounts of waste and greenhouse gas emissions.
Pangaia features clothing made from a sustainable fabric and has developed its first denim product made entirely from cotton textile waste using textile innovations company Evrnu’s NuCycl technology. "Following its invention by Levi Strauss [...]143 years later, we’re honoring the iconic denim jacket with a future-facing innovative material technology that helps us move one step closer to an Earth-positive future." said Pangaia on its website.
Tech is trendy. The latest trend in fashion is all about incorporating technology into everyday wear, with technical fabrics and other innovative techniques taking center stage. From swimwear to activewear, designers are using technology to create functional, sustainable, and high-tech fashion that pushes the boundaries of what's possible.
