The Parisian department store Galeries Lafayette has been testing a video channel sales system.

The health crisis implicating social distancing measures is nurturing a hyper acceleration of digital in the retail world.

While the department store on Boulevard Haussman physically reopened its doors on May 30, Galeries Lafayette is reinforcing its e-commerce platform with an Exclusive Live Shopping concept.
We already talked about conversational commerce here, but this new concept of virtual shopping boosts the standards of online Retail. More than ever, digital itinerary and services complements physical stores to offer customers unique and seamless shopping experiences.

Personal Shoppers and brand advisors

With this new offer, customers have two options:

- Benefit from the support of a Personal Shopper who is a reference for all 120 Fashion, Beauty and Accessories brands available

- Directly call a brand advisor attached to one of the 70 Luxury and Designer partner brands. These include Gucci, Balenciaga, De Beers, Guerlain, Hermès Beauté, Bottega Veneta, Louis Vuitton and Dior.

Conversations are conducted in video format. Note that live videos use a “one-way” camera, meaning the client sees and hears the personal shopper, but the personal shopper can only hear his or her client.

The solution also offers a "List of Envies" option where each customer is invited to fill out an online form and indicate the products or brands they wish to see.

With these solutions, Galeries Lafayette has demonstrated extreme agility and creativity in a very short timeframe. They have also multiplied initiatives by deploying hand-free shopping and now ship from stores. With Exclusive Live Shopping, they are taking another step forward in creating the unique experience, thanks to the support of the biggest brands.

Bonus: another feature that we found very smart

What every shopper dreams of: search for a product, with a photo!

Clients take a photo of the perfect trench coat that the pretty girl at the next table is wearing, upload, and discover similar items sold on the Galeries Lafayette website.
